B2R Fellow Promotes Peace Through Entrepreneurship in DRC
B2R Fellow, Bienfait Mugenza, graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in Political Science and a vision of bringing peace to his home country of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Today, he is the Founder & Managing Director of Congo Peace Academy, a non-profit organization focused on promoting peace and stability through education, training, and entrepreneurship, with the goal of equipping 1 million young, entrepreneurial peace leaders.
Most recently, Bienfait and CPA launched a new Agri Peace Program that seeks to support displaced families facing severe food insecurity as they return to their villages. After completing B2R Farms' Train the Trainer (Tot) Program in Rwanda, Bienfait and CPA team members returned to DRC to establish a training center in Goma and Idjwi Island. Today, they are working to train 480 champion farmers across four IDP sites, who will then train thousands more.
